Sleights Community Hub
Sleights Community Hub is home to Lavan Dementia Care Services, Friends of LDCS and hosts other community groups. The hub supports carers, people living with dementia, individuals with MS and Parkinson’s, older adults and members of the wider community. Whether you're visiting us for a cup of tea, a chat, some advice and support or joining one of our hosted community groups - you’ll find warmth, understanding, and connection in everything we do.
About Sleights Community Hub
Sleights Community Hub was founded and is led by Jade, an Independent Specialist Dementia nurse, who is the director of Lavan Dementia Care Services and volunteers her time with Friends of LDCS alongside a dedicated team of volunteers to provide support and services to those who need them most.
Friends of LDCS is a community group supporting carers and people living with dementia offering activities, social connections, advice, support and information on evening and weekends.
We are proud to be the only dementia and carer community hub in Redcar and Cleveland, offering free advice, information, support, education and signposting to individuals and families. Our hub provides:
- A warm, safe and welcoming community space
- Free hot and cold drinks
- Free WiFi access
- Printing facilities
- Advice, information signposting and support
- Activities, social opportunities and events for carers, people living with dementia and the local community
What's on at the hub?
Our hub offers a wide variety of free and low-cost activities every Friday and Sunday. No referral is needed, and everyone is welcome – whether you’re local to Guisborough, Redcar or Middlesbrough or just visiting, we have no catchment area
- The Weekenders – carer and dementia Sunday social
- Recovery Connections – addiction support
- The Pubtastics – carer and dementia tea at the pub social
- Guisborough Spiritualist Group
- North East Prostate Cancer Support Group

You’re welcome to join us at the hub. We are open every Friday and Sunday 10am to 4pm – it is free to access, and no referral is needed.
